HUMAN RIGHTS CHARTER
HUMAN RIGHTS CHARTER
Scroll Group Human Rights Charter
The Scroll Group places our corporate mottoes, “To be a company trusted by society,” “To do business in an honest, ethical, and enriching manner”—at the heart of all our activities.
Respecting human rights is an indispensable and top-priority matter in our efforts to solve social issues through our business activities and achieve sustainable enhancement of corporate value.
Based on the fundamental principles set forth in the “Scroll Philosophy,” we respect the human rights of all stakeholders involved in our business activities, products, services, and business relationships. We strive to ensure that it does not cause or contribute to any adverse impacts on human rights, and should any such impacts occur, we will respond with sincerity toward their remediation.
1. Scope of application
This charter applies to all officers and employees of the Scroll Group. We also seek the understanding and support of our business partners and suppliers regarding this charter and will continuously engage with them to promote respect for human rights through collaboration.
2. Priority items: Commitments
➀ Compliance with laws and respect for international norms
We comply with the laws and regulations of the countries and regions where we operate and show the utmost respect for international human rights standards, including the “International Bill of Human Rights,” the “ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work,” and the “United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.”
In the event of a conflict between internationally recognized human rights and local laws or regulations, we will seek ways to respect international human rights principles while complying with local laws.
➁ Respect for diverse individuals (Task Diversity)
We recognize and value internal diversity (Task Diversity) in terms of abilities, knowledge, and experience. We will foster an environment that encourages challenges so that all employees can proactively shape their careers and maximize their potential. Furthermore, we will continuously work to close the gender gap, including the advancement of women in the workplace. We also eliminate all forms of discrimination based on race, nationality, gender, age, or other factors, and strive to ensure safe and healthy working environments through proper management of working hours and payment of appropriate wages.
➂ Sincere business operations(Open, Fair, Clear)
Based on our action guidelines, “Open, Fair, Clear,” we will ensure thorough compliance in our business activities while maintaining constant transparency and fairness. We do not tolerate any form of harassment and will maintain and cultivate an open workplace environment, where diverse individualities are respected and where everyone can inspire one another. Furthermore, we prohibit all forms of forced labor and child labor in our business activities.
➃ Social responsibility in the supply chain
Together with our business partners, we promote “responsible procurement” while considering environmental and social issues. We will fulfill our social responsibility by building sound partnerships that respect the positions and human rights of others throughout our global supply chain.
➄ Providing value to customers and protecting dignity
While ensuring the safety of the products and services we provide, we strictly protect the privacy and personal information of our customers. Furthermore, in our marketing activities and advertising, we eliminate expressions that promote discrimination or violate ethics, and we engage in communication that respects diversity and human rights.
➅ Contribution to the next generation and local communities
We will continue to invest in future generations and address social issues surrounding children. We will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through the promotion of circular businesses that help reduce environmental impact, as a group loved and trusted by local people.
3. Execution process for respecting human rights
To fulfill our responsibility to respect the human rights of all people involved in our business activities in accordance with the procedures based on the UN “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights,” we will promote the following processes:
➀ Implementation of human rights due diligence
We are committed to establishing processes to identify and prioritize potential adverse impacts on human rights throughout our business activities and supply chains. Furthermore, we will continuously work to prevent and mitigate these impacts.
➁ Correction and remediation
If it becomes clear that an adverse impact on human rights has occurred, we will work toward correction and remediation through appropriate procedures. We will operate effective whistleblowing and consultation desks, ensuring anonymity and prohibiting any disadvantageous treatment (retaliation) against whistleblowers.
➂ Education and awareness
To ensure that this charter is firmly established throughout all our business activities, we will continuously provide appropriate education and training to all our officers and employees.
➃ Dialogue and disclosure
We will regularly disclose the progress of our human rights initiatives through our website, integrated reports, and other channels, while maintaining ongoing dialogue with our stakeholders.
